PROJECT #586: School Bus for Disadvantaged Female Students- 9th Year

Due to financial hardship, most families are unable to afford transportation costs to send their children to nearby cities for high school education. Additionally, due to the cultural poverty in the region, there is a concern that in times of financial strain, the cost of education for girls will be among the first expenses to be cut from the household budget. If the transportation costs are not covered, many of these girls may be forced to drop out of school.

Since 2015 (1394 in the Iranian calendar), Yara has been covering the transportation costs for female students in the Pirsarhab region to help them continue their education by getting them to high school, preventing them from dropping out.

  • Cost: AUD$12,000
