PROJECT #593: Payment of salaries for the Sayarak Torogh (5th year) – North Khorasan 2023

The Sayarak Torogh has been operating in the Torogh area of Mashhad since January 2020, and with the support of the Yara Foundation and the collaboration of 10 mentors, it has provided free services to more than 500 children.

This mobile book center creates a safe, colorful environment for underprivileged children in the area—one filled with play, books, imagination, and conversations with mentors. After 20 minutes of reading, children take part in activities such as cognitive and physical games, drawing, construction, theater, storytelling, and a weekly club.

A significant part of the unit’s work focuses on training and empowering assistants aged 11 to 13, who are being prepared to become future mentors. In addition, the mentors’ health, nutrition, and communication support has played a key role in improving the children’s quality of life and emotional development.

In 2023, the costs related to operating the mobile unit—including the salaries of 9 mentors for 8 months, transportation expenses for mobile activities over 8 months, and the manager’s salary for 8 months—were covered with the support of the Yara Foundation. This support has played an important role in the sustainability and continuation of the unit’s services.

  • Cost: AUD 14,700
  • Number of Children: 500
