After the earthquake in Khoy, located in the West Azerbaijan Province, the primary focus has been on rebuilding the destroyed buildings and addressing the region’s basic needs. However, there has been little attention given to the psychological and emotional trauma experienced by children due to the earthquake.
Since books and reading are fundamental to the growth and development of children’s personalities, and since most schools in these areas lack libraries, a mobile library with a consistent program can have a positive impact on children and families, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the region after the earthquake.
In this project, the Yara Foundation, in collaboration with the Mehrgiti Institute in Iran, has purchased and equipped an Arisan vehicle to be used as a mobile library. This mobile library serves multiple villages in the area and conducts weekly cultural, artistic, and reading programs in the region.
