I am a PhD student and have been living in Melbourne for three years with my partner, Sahel. I grew up in a small town in the west of Iran. I was well looked after and had the privilege of being brought up in a family who valued and facilitated my education. Nevertheless, I could clearly feel the difficulties that some of my friends from poor and lower socioeconomic families were faced with. As a kid, I was thinking the only way I can help them is to study and share my knowledge with them. Now, as a person thousands of kilometres far from my country, I still think I can help disadvantaged children by joining Yarra. I really love cooking because I think I can make people happy with delicious food.
