Yarra Foundation
Mahsa Shahidi

I am medical scientist and work as a clinical researcher in Westmead Medical School, University of Sydney. I feel very fortunate to be involved in clinical trials where I can use my knowledge to save people’s life or improve their quality of life through new medications.

However, healthcare is not the only way that one can impact people’s life. I believe through education we not only guarantee children’s future success but also, we provide them more opportunity to improve their health. Being educated means greater economic stability and security, better resources for good health, improved social and psychological skills, reduced stress and better access to health care. Put simply, higher education improves an individual’s quality of life.

Yarra Foundation has provided me an invaluable opportunity to help unprivileged students to access better education and possibly a better life.
